Outcome and audience

For reviewers investigating what changed and which available dimension owns it.

Before you begin

Choose an authorized connected provider and a date range with generated cost data. Some dimensions or cost bases may be unavailable.

Where to go

Open Projects, Services, or Resources under Explore spend, or follow an exploration link from Overview.

Complete the workflow

Keep the selected workspace, provider, period, currency, cost basis, and data-through date visible as you work.

  1. Confirm provider, date range, comparison, currency, cost basis, and daily, weekly, or monthly grain.
  2. Choose only dimensions and filters offered for the selected source.
  3. Review the initial bounded rows and use Show more when additional results are available.
  4. Keep partial dates and corrections visible while comparing values.
  5. Open or create a Saved View when the complete question should be reused.

Interpret the result

A row is a source-backed aggregation within the current filters. Missing identities remain unavailable, and credits retain their sign.

Loading, empty, partial, and unavailable states

Loading preserves the current scope. Empty means no records match the authorized scope. Partial or stale data keeps its completed-through boundary visible. Unavailable or permission-denied states explain the missing prerequisite and never substitute zero or another provider.

Provider differences

Accounts, projects, subscriptions, services, SKUs, meters, resources, tags, workspaces, models, and API keys appear only when supplied and authorized.

Synthetic example

Illustrative example · synthetic data Example: Northstar Labs compares the last seven completed days with the previous seven, groups by service, then expands the first four rows to inspect more results.

Common mistakes

Do not treat Show more as a new financial scope, combine actual and amortized cost, or infer missing resource identity from a service name.
