Outcome and audience

For a workspace member preparing the first trustworthy cost review.

Before you begin

You need an active customer account, an active workspace membership, an eligible plan, and provider-side access approved by your organization.

Where to go

Sign in, choose the active workspace, then open Data sources.

Complete the workflow

Keep the selected workspace, provider, period, currency, cost basis, and data-through date visible as you work.

  1. Complete any required temporary-password change before opening customer data.
  2. Choose one eligible provider from Add Data Source; no provider is selected automatically.
  3. Follow the provider guide and run Test connection.
  4. Wait for the first cost sync and confirm the completed-through date.
  5. Open Overview, verify scope and total, then save the useful analysis or create a budget.

Interpret the result

A visible total is useful only when provider, period, currency, cost basis, and completeness match the question you intend to answer.

Loading, empty, partial, and unavailable states

Loading preserves the current scope. Empty means no records match the authorized scope. Partial or stale data keeps its completed-through boundary visible. Unavailable or permission-denied states explain the missing prerequisite and never substitute zero or another provider.

Provider differences

Source fields, initial history, completion delay, corrections, and supported dimensions vary by provider and connection.

Synthetic example

Illustrative example · synthetic data Example: Northstar Labs connects one AWS CUR 2.0 report, verifies July 1–31 as complete, then saves a service-level monthly comparison.

Common mistakes

Do not add every provider at once, assume recent dates are complete, or send provider credentials through support or email.
